The Final Stretch Goal - Feed The Beast
about 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 08, 2019 at 03:01:03 AM

Hello Visitors of Tikor!

We're coming to the finish line after what has been an amazing month. A long, but amazing month! With just under 60 hours left before the end, I think its time we talk about the final stretch goal. They say you should "Shoot for the Moon" on your final Stretch Goal. Sooo...

The Finale - Feed the Beast

The start of something great
The start of something great

Spoilers.

Me.

I'm the beast.

Swordsfall has been a dream project that I didn't even know I had the dream of. It was a writing project that filled my time, something that surely wasn't going anywhere. But as I sat down and worked on it with each day, I felt something happening.

I was having fun.

The world of Tikor feels like it just flows from my head. I always know what comes next, what goes where and who did what. I've been writing Swordsfall for a year now, and I can honestly say I've never had Writer's Block. Not once.

This is the thing I was suppose to do it. This world and things within it are what I want to bring to life. I want to dive into the oceans of The Grand Divide and tell you what's there. Adventures of all kinds that span the globe. A horror campaign in the Ebon Cascade, a slice of life adventure in The Isle.

I want to create it all.

To this point, everything you see, has been done part-time. Neither do I work for home. This has just been something that I've been willing to sacrifice my time and energy to do. Going home from work every night to write, no matter what. Now the project has reached the point where it can be more than a hobby or side-hustle. I want this to be what I do.

I want to bring to life Swordsfall Studios.

The garbage title I made. THIS is why you hire a Graphic Designer
The garbage title I made. THIS is why you hire a Graphic Designer

With the current funding I'll be able to have T'umo as my dedicated artist for at least a year, same with Taylor as my graphic designer. If we hit $130,000, I too can do this full-time.  And along with a part-time editor, we can bring a small studio to life.

We'd be able to not just do Welcome to Tikor, but immediately begin work on the Swordsfall RPG: Corebook. This also lets me add more crossovers like Beneath the Canals and Dino Wranglers, bringing Tikor's Finest to other lands.

There's also the first Swordsfall novel, End of Era, that I'm 50,000 words in. The metaplot to the world of Swordsfall is one I think all fans will not want to miss. Feed the beast, feed the story.

So while hitting $130,000 is a long way off, it's a goal I wanted at the very end. I wanted my artists paid and the best book possible made before I got my cut. But, no matter if we hit this goal or not, Swordsfall will continue.

This is my baby and my opus magnum. I want it in all of your hands. I want to put Tikor in your soul. I intend to be here for a LONG TIME, final stretch goal achieved or not!

And so, we enter the final stretch of this Kickstarter, with "Destination - Tikor" just around the corner.

Henshin a go go baby!

Stretch Goal #10 Unlocked - The Animalists' Guide to Creatures
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 07, 2019 at 10:31:45 PM

So, I'm a little bit late on this. Things have been going so well lately! It's truly amazing to watch. With your continued support we have no unlocked the fourth and final PDF stretch goal. And with that, the book set for "Welcome to Tikor" is complete. In digital form at least. ;)

What is this final PDF?

The Animalists' Guide to Creatures

This is not the final version. But I dig the title though.
This is not the final version. But I dig the title though.

The world of Tikor has many animals and creatures that populate it's surface. Read the visual tale of an Animalist as they travel Tikor, interacting with all its creatures, animals and beasts.

What's it about?

Animals and creatures are very different things on Tikor. They aren't just something that holds up the background, or makes for things to murder. Tikor is alive in a way, and the creatures that roam it are just as much it's children.

No one knows this like an Animalist. The profession requires understand and connecting with animals, creatures and beasts. The guide will be a narrative journey around Tikor as one of the worlds most decorated Animalist shows you the animal kingdom.

What is an Animalist?

The Animalist Profession doesn't just speak to nature. It melds with it.
The Animalist Profession doesn't just speak to nature. It melds with it.

As a quick refresher, that is the Profession. So while the book can be used and read by anyone, it has a special element for the beast loving Professions of Tikor. Nothing like a book full of creatures that you can morph into at the game table!

And so, the books are complete! Next up? The Finale.

The Post Kickstarter Pledge Manager - Backerkit
about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 05, 2019 at 10:15:10 PM

Hello everyone!

I realized I didn't really lay it out, but we ARE using a Pledge Manager for post Kickstarter!

Pledge Manager - Backerkit

Welcome to Tikor is using Backerkit!
Welcome to Tikor is using Backerkit!

If you've backed a project before (which most of you have),  then you are more than familiar with Pledge Managers like Backerkit. We will be using it for ours as well! So for those of not familiar with it, what does it mean?

For one, that means that after the Kickstarter is over, as long as you've pledged AT LEAST $1, you can change the Pledge Tiers. This is only available to people who back the Kickstarter. So, if you're tight on cash, throw in a dollar and you'll be able to bump it up afterwards!

Anyone who misses the Kickstarter will still be able to Pre-order a copy via the Backerkit store, TWO WEEKS after the KS ends. The little Pledge button will change to Pre-order and will take you to the Swordsfall Backerkit page. However you'll be unable to grab any of the Kickstarter exclusive tiers such as R.I.P on Tikor.

The Backerkit Store

As part of the post KS store, there will be add-ons available. We didn't add the swag to the Kickstarter because we really wanted it to be about the book. And getting the funding to really make the book sexy. However, we do have swag!

Shipping will be separate as they will come from a different location. As well as they'll arrive before the books (the shirts and what not are ready to sale/ship right now)

The Chibis will be released and shown on the store as the art is completed. My current thought is to add a poll at the end of the survey for the Deluxe Edition and above to pick their Chibi. The rest will be on the store as Add-ons.

The Minos T-shirt - Available now on Amazon or through the Backerkit store soon!

Some of the swag like the t-shirts, are available right now through Amazon or RedBubble! There's other stuff such as Stickers and Posters on the Redbubble store. We'll be adding more as the artists do their magic.

Thanks for your support, we're almost there! 4 days left! Hype!

The Ultimate Book Stretch Goal - The Azurean Finish
about 5 years ago – Sat, Mar 30, 2019 at 04:21:05 PM

Hello Swordies!

We crossed off the $50k stretch goal a few days ago, and are trucking along nicely to $60k. The support is epic, and I thank you!

I feel like now is the perfect time to reveal the $100,000 stretch goal. A final book related goal that will cement "Welcome to Tikor" as an epic MUST buy. Lets hop into it.

$100,000 - The Azurean Finish

All FOUR books will fit in the Slipcase - Not the Final Version
All FOUR books will fit in the Slipcase - Not the Final Version

When we hit the $100,000 goal, I can do what people have wanted for over a week, ALL of the books printed. However, I'm going to do one better and not just print all four books, but print them in stupid high quality. And put in a few little extras. Lets see what your getting!

The Details

  • All four books printed
  • Two Variant covers for the Setting and Artbook
  • Embossed covers on all books
  • Silk Ribbon bookmark on all books
  • All tucked in a Custom Slipcase with special art

This slipcase bundle will be a KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE. We're only going to print one run of these, and once they're sold, that's it. If you're a book fan, then this is for you.

ALL tiers with physical books will be upgraded to this Ultimate Collection!

Lastly, before I let you go, you all know that we're doing a TON of wallpapers right? Like not just the world map, right? No? Ok, well here's a Work in Progress for your exit!

The Buzz about Tikor: Swordsfall Articles and Interviews
about 5 years ago – Thu, Mar 28, 2019 at 02:57:52 AM

Hello Swordies! (is that catching on yet? Can I like, force my own cute fan name?)

I've been working on getting the word out about Swordsfall since before we even launched the Kickstarter, and it's finally paying off.

Over the last week Swordsfall has been the talk of several blogs, and I've guest starred on a few podcasts. I've been sharing them across the social media sphere, but it seemed right to put them all together in one spot. And somewhere where all you lovely backers could see the buzz!

So here's the hype from Day 1 to Day 15!

Articles About Swordsfall

Several media outlets have written some nice, general articles about Swordsfall. These have mostly pieces that summarized the Kickstarter page. But regardless, the exposure helps tremendously!

Interviews with Brandon

Worldbuilding Magazine was the first magazine to feature Swordsfall

I was able to have a number of e-mail/questionnaire interviews about Swordsfall. These are a bit more in-depth than the general articles up above. I tried to make sure I wasn't answering all the questions the same, so each interview should have "unique" information. The interview from Worldbuilding Magazine took place before Kickstarter, but it's a fantastic interview, nonetheless. As well, the person who did the bulk of the editing on that interview is Imachinate

The very Editor you all unlocked at $26,000. So take a read, and see how good his editing skills are. You'll quickly see why he was the first name on my list.
